Dar Blockchain has launched a Web3 startup incubator, The Web3 Incubation Program, aiming to transform winners from the Hedera Africa Hackathon into investment-ready companies. This initiative, a partnership with The Hashgraph Association, Wiki Startup, and UGFS North Africa, with Softstack as Security Partner, began on October 1, 2026, and will run through January 2027.
The program will guide 18 selected ventures, with a goal of at least five companies being seed-ready by an investor Demo Day scheduled for the week of January 18, 2027. A portion of the US$900,000 hackathon prize pool is allocated to support the chosen teams with product development, technical implementation, market validation, and business execution. This funding aims to bridge the gap between hackathon success and building a sustainable business, helping founders attract further investment.
Web3 Incubation Programme Targets Seed-Ready Startups
Jaafar Saied, Co-Founder of Dar Blockchain, stated that the program begins where most hackathons end. “For us, that’s where the real work begins,” Saied said. “This program helps founders turn prototypes into investable companies through clear milestones, technical support, and disciplined capital deployment.”
The Web3 Incubation Program builds upon the Hedera Africa Hackathon, which concluded in April and was recognized as the world’s largest Web3 hackathon. That event involved over 13,000 developers, received more than 1,300 project submissions, and reached over 45,000 participants through educational initiatives across 20 African hubs and online platforms, supported by a $1 million prize pool.
The selected 18 teams for the incubation program represent four continents, with founders hailing from countries including Nigeria, Egypt, India, Brazil, and the United States. The program is designed to address the challenges founders face in scaling from hackathon projects to viable businesses.
Partners Provide Venture Development and Security Support
The curriculum includes 21 workshops, personalized execution roadmaps, and direct support from experts. Each team will work toward specific milestones focused on venture development and commercial readiness. Wiki Startup will provide assistance with venture structuring, go-to-market strategies, and founder preparedness. UGFS North Africa will lead investment-readiness efforts and connect teams with financing opportunities.
Softstack will contribute through its deal platform, offering AI credits, product discounts, and deals, in addition to security support. The program will also help teams enhance their software architecture, improve security protocols, and deploy production-ready products on the Hedera mainnet, utilizing its native token and consensus services.
Kamal Youssefi, President of The Hashgraph Association, commented on the initiative’s significance. “The Web3 Incubation Program reflects our long-term commitment to supporting builders throughout their entrepreneurial journey,” Youssefi said. “By extending support into venture creation, we’re helping founders transform innovative ideas into production-ready solutions capable of delivering real-world impact on Hedera.”
By the third milestone gate, the program aims for over 60 percent of participating ventures to have secured signed letters of intent or launched active pilot programs. This structured approach aims to ensure tangible progress and prepare startups for future growth and investment opportunities within the Web3 ecosystem.
The initiative aims to foster innovation and support the growth of Web3 startups in Africa and beyond, building on the success of the Hedera Africa Hackathon. The program’s focus on practical application and investor readiness is a key component in nurturing emerging talent and projects.
