Sammy Basu, cybersecurity advisor known as the “Bengal-born Marie Kondo of cybersecurity,” joined The Michael Peres Podcast to discuss minimalist, human-centered security for complex enterprises. The episode traced his path from systems administration to helping Fortune 500 organizations—across finance, pharma, and media—stay audit-ready without tool sprawl, focusing on shrinking attack surfaces and making risk dashboards actionable. Basu outlined preemptive approaches for connected systems—IoT, PLCs, and industrial devices—and why decentralization and blockchain heighten the need for clear controls over added tooling. He emphasized right-sizing stacks, clarifying roles, and designing processes people actually follow, arguing that less technology and more operational discipline produce stronger outcomes.
