Kevin O’Leary calls on the next Congress to make energy security and the CLARITY Act priorities. He says the United States needs reliable electricity for economic productivity and global competitiveness.

In a Monday post on X, O’Leary shared a clip from his NewsNation interview and named both priorities. He wrote that the grid was already stretched and called for reliable electricity to power the economy. His TradingView source report also quoted him saying, “You can’t have an economy without energy.”

Kevin O’Leary Calls for Grid Reliability and Clear Rules

O’Leary tied energy supply to business activity, arguing that all 11 economic sectors could use digital payments and blockchain. He said clear rules for those technologies would help businesses improve productivity. His comments linked the energy question to a separate request for Congress to set policy around digital systems.

He specifically supported policies for natural gas as a source of electricity generation. That preference placed a specific fuel source within his broader request for energy security.

The CLARITY Act Is His Legislative Priority

On cryptocurrency policy, O’Leary said his focus was not Bitcoin alone. He described digital payment systems and blockchain as tools that businesses in all 11 sectors could use to advance productivity. He also pointed to the GENIUS Act, which established a regulatory framework for payment stablecoins.

O’Leary said Congress still needed to pass the CLARITY Act. In his X post, he said the issue was helping America compete, not dividing the debate along party lines. He called for clear regulations governing digital payments and blockchain technology.

Energy Security Has Appeared in Recent Developments

Last month, Bloom Energy Corp. raised its 2026 guidance for the third time after strong quarterly results. The company also expanded projects with the U.S. Army, Google and American Electric Power, while reporting growing demand for its power systems.

In April, International Energy Agency chief Fatih Birol warned that Strait of Hormuz disruption had triggered an energy-security crisis. He called it the worst energy security crisis in history. The disruption cut global oil supply by 13 million barrels per day, the source said.

Birol’s warning also raised concerns about inflation, economic growth and fuel shortages. Those concerns appeared in the source as a separate energy-security example, while O’Leary’s post focused on reliable electricity and natural gas policy.

Crypto Industry Leaders Have Also Discussed the Bill

In September, Coinbase Global Inc. policy chief Faryar Shirzad expressed cautious optimism that the CLARITY Act could advance. He also warned that disagreements over decentralized finance, exchange rules and President Donald Trump’s crypto interests could complicate passage.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong expressed confidence in the bill. He said federal agencies were prepared to introduce rules if it failed. Armstrong also said Bitcoin’s cycle bottom was likely behind it and expected prices to rise over the next one to two years.

Congress still needs to pass the CLARITY Act, the specific legislative step O’Leary said remains necessary.
